Types of Blogs That Make Money

If you’re serious about monetizing your blog and transforming yourself into a money-making machine, I’ve created an extensive list of how you can begin to monetize your content. It’s time to start making money, people!

1. Ad Networks

Ad networks are an extremely low effort yet effective way to monetize your blog. Simply put, ad networks are essentially companies that sell their ad space on websites and blogs.

This typically shows up as an ad banner on your website. By adding ad networks to your blog, you receive a commission for posting the ad.

One of the most popular ad networks in the blogging world to date is Google Adsense.

To begin working with Google Adsense, you will need to sign up for an account and submit your website to be approved.

Once your website or blog is approved, you can begin cashing in the sweet, sweet dollar bills!

The best part? There’s absolutely no catch to this. This is completely legit!

2. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate-Marketing

Want to make money in your sleep? Who doesn’t –Sign me up! Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money without even trying. It is one of the most commonly used methods that bloggers make their money online.

Bloggers will promote other people’s businesses’ products and services and collect a commission off the total amount of sales the company gets monthly through your promotion! It’s really that simple.

Promote a product or service on your blog and paste a link to the website in your bio. Every time a person clicks through the link to their website and makes a purchase, you make money!

3. Sponsorships

Sponsorships are another great way to begin monetizing your blog. By making a sponsored post and writing an honest review on the overall experience you had with the product, companies will pay you big bucks just to get more exposure.

Your viewers appreciate transparent content, and influencer marketing has skyrocketed in the last 5 years and will only continue to grow.

The best thing about sponsored posts is that you get to choose the fee that companies will need to pay you to sponsor their products. Not to mention that this is also a great way to drive traffic to your blog as well!

And who doesn’t like a free product or service every once in a while! You never really know what you’re going to get to test out, which is why this is such a fun way to make money!

4. Consulting / coaching

A lot of bloggers nowadays are turning to consulting and coaching to make more money through your blog.

The nice thing about doing so is that you don’t need to be an expert on the subject. You just need to know more than what others do, so they are willing to pay for it.

You can either create an online course using WordPress extensions, use a third-party host site, or offer one-on-one experiences with people.

And suppose you really want to go all out and make that big money. In that case, you can even establish your own coaching business that is separate from your blog to help people solve their problems in your specific niche! It’s as simple as that! I promise!

5. Selling digital products

Selling e-books online to others has grown in popularity over the last couple of years and has mostly become popular during 2022.

This is why so many bloggers are using this method to monetize their blogs. The nice thing about creating an ebook for your targeted audience is that it is relatively easy to make.

It doesn’t need to be that long of a format, and it’s the perfect way to see if people are relating to the content you are posting about.

Another great thing about e-books is that you cannot only sell them on your blog, but you can also make money off them by posting them on Amazon.

However, if you are looking to keep 100% of your profits, it is best to sell them through your blogging platform.

6. Sell freelance services

One of the easiest ways to make money from your blog is to sell your freelance writing services to more prominent blogs within your niche!

Seriously, think about how easy it would be to make money writing about something you already know so much information about! So why not use this as an advantage to make extra money?

Not only will you gain experience in working with reputable bloggers, but it is also a great way to promote your own blog at the same time!

Not to mention that people will pay you anywhere from $100 – $1000 per blog post, depending on your experience! Let’s start making this money, people!

How to choose a blog niche that makes money

Now that you know of all the ways bloggers are cashing in the big bucks online. Let’s talk about some of the essential fundamentals of actually starting a successful blog.

This starts off with choosing a blog niche. What is a niche, you might ask? A blogging niche is a specific topic you write/post about on your blog.

Seems easy enough, right? Well, there are actually some important rules to consider when you are selecting your niche. Let’s go through each one of them, so after reading this, you can make the best decision when it comes to choosing your topic.

1. Do you like your topic enough to write about it?

This seems like the obvious first choice when picking a specific niche to start blogging in. And yes, it is.

But it is just as equally as important as all the other decisions you will make before starting your blog!

Do you have a topic that you are incredibly interested in that you could talk about for hours?

If you do, then this is the perfect place to start! After narrowing down your topic of interest, it’s essential to see what category of blogs your subject will fall into.

2. Popularity/ Competition

Once you have picked your potential blogging topic, it is essential to see if people are searching for related keywords to your topic online.

Make sure to target your own country first and other countries you think people would be searching in. Another essential aspect when choosing your niche is to look at the amount of competition.

Contrary to popular belief, a significant blog niche will have a decent amount of competition. No competition in the field means that no one is talking about your topic.

3. What is the Audience Size for this blog niche?

For a blog niche to work, you need to first figure out whether there is an audience that you can promote your blog to.

You can do this by first asking yourself if there are currently any books or magazines that have been published that are related to your topic. If the answer is yes, then there is a chance you can earn revenue on this topic.

The second question you should ask yourself is, are there any products or services already aimed at this targeted audience?

The existence of many products and services is another excellent way to see if there is an audience interested in the same topic as you.

The last question you should ask yourself is whether companies advertise products that are relating to your keywords.

For example, if you start a blog about gaming, search the word and other words related to gaming such as the best games for Xbox to see if any ads pop up in your Google search.

If ads appear, this is another excellent sign that you will be able to monetize your blogging topic to others.

How to start a blog

The final in the process is to actually start a blog! Here are some steps that need to be taken now that you have figured out your desired niche!

Choose a domain name

Choosing a domain name is just as important as picking your desired niche! Your domain name needs to be unique and be tailored to what you will be blogging about!

Part of the fun of choosing a domain name is that you can get as creative as you want to!

Just make sure you check the domain online to ensure that no one has the same blog name as you (that would be really awkward).

Luckily, BlueHost is the perfect hosting site that allows you to claim your ideal domain name. And the best part of all, you may ask? It’s only $3.95 a month!

A small investment now to help you on your way to making the big bucks!

Install WordPress

Once you have your account set up with BlueHost, it’s time to install the popular WordPress plugin! Why WordPress, you might ask?

Well, WordPress allows you to build themes, add plugins, and is the most popular website builder globally!

It’s also straightforward to use (trust me, if I can do it, you can too).

Start Creating your Theme with WordPress

The nice thing about WordPress is that you can install beautiful themes that are oh so aesthetically pleasing!

There’s a theme for everyone! Pick one that matches your niche the best to make sure your blog is cohesive and pleasing to the eye.

My favorite WordPress themes are Divi, GeneratePress, and MyThemeShop. You are sure to find something you like on one of these sites for sure!

Final words

If you’re serious about writing a blog, then what’s stopping you? After reading all this, you should have some pretty good insight into the types of blogs that make money.

Take a day to sit down and brainstorm topics that you could talk about for hours and do some market research to see if your ideas could potentially make you money in the long run!

Blogging is definitely a long-term investment, but if and when it works out, you’ll be thankful that you took steps to overcome your fears and started something unique.
